Designed by Sebastian Herkner, Taru was created with the intention to have a comfortable place to sit and show off the craftmanship and expertise of Ligne Roset. Herkner had always been a fan of the brand, so his approach and commitment to craftsmanship can be seen as a result of this long-term collaboration. It was not by chance that he chose the name Taru, an elephant and symbol of a precious, elegant, and sociable species, which needs preservation now more than ever.

Taru is comfortable and welcoming, with its fully upholstered base giving it true character. The seat is also intertwined with its subtly curved backrest in a bi-material treatment. It was originally made available as a large settee, medium settee and 1-arm settee (left or right).

Each element, from the footstool to the cushions of the settee, is designed to be an invitation to relax, whether that means snuggling up comfortably on your own or with family, or with friends. The model’s originality springs from the vast potential of mixing materials (fabrics and leathers) and the possible color combinations made possible with the backrest able to be customized as desired.

This is a collection with two faces, meaning its upholstered back side is just as worthy of showing off as its front side. It can be complemented with an optional back cushion to further accentuate Taru’s comfortability, or a matching footstool.

In 2021, the Taru collection was expanded by the introduction of two pieces – a cozy and compact armchair and a “canalounge” or curved sectional style sofa, both with strong character and remain faithful to the spirit of the first collaboration between Sebastian Herkner and Ligne Roset.
