Pennsylvania studio Union, founded by industrial designer Jeff Theesfeld, applied its function-first approach to its Dotti collection for KFI Studios, focusing on enhancing the human experience through thoughtful and considered details.
Recognizing the need for versatility in an office environment, Union developed Dotti to meet those varying needs while also providing a cohesive and casual design structure. Comprised of a lounge chairs, an ottoman, pouffe and coffee tables, the individual elements share a common language, one that emphasizes comfort and concentration.
With the lounge chairs, a wrap-around wood-look plywood back (laminated in white, ash, European beech or dark chestnut) creates a cocooning effect that is strengthened by two cushions – the tailored and firm seat and a pillowy ultra-soft back, the latter of which has hidden channelling for ergonomic support. Two back heights are available and the bases can be fixed or return-to-centre swivel.
The oversized lounge or easy-to-transport pouffe can be paired with the lounge chair for ultimate comfort or used as standalone seats in island groupings or gathered around low tables. A handsome leather handle on the pouffe (in almond, basilica or black) makes it easy to grab and go where needed.
Union completed the Dotti collection for KFI Studios, with a low-profile coffee table (in two sizes) that echo the forms of both the lounge seat and the ottoman and are topped with Wilsonart HPL in 26 standard colourways or Wilsonart HPL or Formica surfaces in custom-colour options (with extended lead times). A wide range of options are available for the upholstered portions of all pieces in the Dotti collection.
