Milan-based Maltese designer Gordon Guillaumier developed the Dao Soft sofa for Italian furniture brand Frigerio as part of his larger Glow collection, which is defined by sinuous shapes that celebrate fluidity and natural materials.
Offering total configuration freedom, the Dao Soft sofa is a modular system comprised of super-soft volumes with a strong geometric presence. Included in the dynamic Dao Sofa series are central, corner and terminal units, as well as chaise longues and daybeds, that can be used to create setups that range from traditional and classic to more contemporary and unexpected.
Enhancing the comfort of the individual modules within the Dao Soft sofa system are enveloping high backrests and wide armrests; seating elements are padded with polyurethane in different densities and Cloud Foam and wrapped in quilted Microflock (made from 100 per cent recycled polyester) for both support and sink-in relaxation.
The volumes in the Dao Soft sofa system are placed on a recessed base, which lends the soft silhouettes the appearance of almost floating in place. Sartorial detailing includes pinched – or pizzicotto – seams at all corners.
More rigid components in the form of small tables or low bookcases can be integrated into the seating landscapes – square or rectangular in shape, these more rigid elements (made from sturdy plywood) have both symmetrical and asymmetrical designs and can be incorporated in the middle or at the end of a sofa run and are offered in a variety of high-gloss lacquered colourways – Linen, Curry, Coral, Olive, Ocean, Sage, Powder, Turtledove and Black.
Frigerio’s Dao Soft sofa is available in a wide variety of fabrics and leathers.
