British fireplace mantel-maker Chesneys recently collaborated with New York interior design firm Pembrooke & Ives to develop a striking new collection of two distinct fireplace mantelpieces inspired by the art deco architecture of New York City and Miami.
The second collaboration between Chesneys and Pembrooke & Ives, the new collection includes two designs – Empire and Mercury – with sculptural profiles that reference iconic art deco motifs and expand on the brand’s contemporary line of fireplaces.
With waves and ridges that capture both light and shadow, the Empire mantelpiece makes for a stunning addition to an interior. Made from creamy Classico limestone with elegant antiqued brass banding accents, the Empire mantelpiece is a subtle marriage of fine materials.
Empire is available in two sizes (Empire 40” and Empire XL) and an Anatolian Grey limestone version with polished brass banding accents is also offered.
The Mercury mantelpiece, meanwhile, features signature curved edges that lend an elemental softness to the stone frame and give it a pillow-like illusion. Made with an unfilled Ivory Travertine body, the sculptural piece has a naturally imperfect finish that complements its modern shape. Slender antique brass panels are integrated on either side, introducing a subdued glimmer and adding a retro-futuristic influence. Mercury is available in one size and a Classico limestone version with antique brass accents is also available.
As with all Chesney mantelpieces, the Pembrooke & Ives collection is crafted using a mix of traditional methods with modern technologies to ensure quality craftsmanship and a timeless appeal.
